Rosamund Pike

Born in 1979 in London, England, actress Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike is the only child of a classical violinist mom, Caroline (Friend), as well as an opera singer father, Julian Pike. She spent her childhood travelling throughout Europe because of her parents' work. Pike studied at Bristol's Badminton School and started acting at the National Youth Theatre. As a performer in the National Youth Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first spotted and signed by an agent. However, she continued her education in Wadham College, Oxford, where she studied English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper-second class honours degree.Pike appeared in a number of UK television shows which included Wives and Daughters (1999), before scoring an auspicious debut in a feature film as the stunning beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another Day (2002); When the film came out, she was only 23. Although her first film was a huge-budget action film, her involvement was mostly in smaller independent films such as Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). She was awarded the Best Supporting Actress Award at The British Independent Film Awards for the film. Pride & Prejudice (2005) was her first film. After a brief period in Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture (2006), she returned to film with outstanding performances in three films. She also appeared in Johnny English Reborn (2011) and in the sci-fi film Wrath of the Titans (2012). With Tom Cruise as her female lead in Jack Reacher (2012), she returned to action movies.
