Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish: born on July 10, 1972) is a Colombian American actress TV producer, presenter, and model. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television from 2013 and 2020. Vergara rose in prominence as host of two programs on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was her first big acting performance in English. The following year, she appeared in Four Brothers (2005) and Tyler Perry's comedy Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009) with an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. She was first seen as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett in the ABC comedy series Modern Family, for which she was awarded four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. The voice-overs she did were Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also part of The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was born in Barranquilla by a Roman Catholic couple. [8] Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara De Vergara worked as a housewife while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher within the meat industry. Five of her siblings and a lot of her friends have referred to her as "Toti". Vergara initially studied dentistry for three years at the National University of Colombia, however, she resigned two semesters from finishing her education to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
