Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh is from Scotland. She was born in Portugal, Colombia and then returned to Scotland. This is where she began to perform on stage in The Edinburgh Festival. She moved to London when she was 16 and immediately became involved with indie filmmaking. Her first job that was paid was working as a stoner in Irvine Welsh's The Acid House (1998). She also performed as an actress and director in the theatre. In 2004, her move to Los Angeles in 2004 led to more theatre. She directed Anne Dudek (a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love (2006)) as well as David Dayan Fisher (a regular actor on 24 (2001/NCIS 2003)) to acclaim. In Headspace (2005) in which she was offered her first US film role as "Stacy" who was a manipulative, born-again Christian. It was in the role of wild "Thumper Wint" in the comedy, Sex and Death 101 (2007) (Simon Baker and Winona Ryder) which was written produced by Heathers (1988) writer Daniel Waters, that the reviewers began to be aware of her talent, citing the unique combination of strong sexuality and irreverent humor. She was a part of both LA as well as London, Exam (2009) was the next one, nominated BAFTA-nominated as Outstanding British Debut and winner of Best Independent at the Santa Barbara Film Fest, the film's critics said that Pollyanna's character was "smart, sassy and sexy at the same time. ....the emotional center of the movie" praised her capacity to discover the "emotional vulnerability" of her seemingly tough and ambitious character. GQ just said that Pollyanna McIntosh, an outstanding actress, is "extremely talented". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is an South American comedy in which she is the unhappy wife of Trevor Lock, a Brit comedian. Filmed in Peru the actress speaks Spanish all the way. John Landis directed Burke and Hare (2010). She appears as Isla Fisher's best friend, along with Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, and Tom Wilkinson. Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011), which she played the main part, received rave reviews at Sundance 2011. It also won the New York Times' readers best movies poll. She received three Best Actress nominations, including Total Film’s Frightfest Award as well as Fright Meter's.
